My RSX Sunroof is Rusted – How To Removed and replaced the Sunroof Glass

Since buying the car in January, to prevent additional water leaks, replacing the tailight gasket is a must. However, one place I never got to address is my sunroof on my Acura RSX Type S. It has a leaky seal . Along the edge, it is poofy in certain areas with rust underneath. I have been searching for replacement, but Honda has discontinued making it. It’s also very expensive to buy a new OEM sunroof. Luckily, I was able to find a glass only piece at the junk yards.

How to remove your Sunroof

Removing an RSX sunroof requires you to remove 3 hex bolts on each side, so a total of 6 bolts. You’ll need a right angle tool to get the clearance. Below you can see an already removed Sunroof and the guide rails where you need to remove the bolts from.

This photo is a side by side comparison of the old sunroof and the new-er one that is about to be installed. If you look along the border of the sunroof, you can see where the rust had corroded. I’m really happy the new one does not have those issues.

Overall, the install was smooth and I did lots of prep work and cleaning to make sure it does not happen again. You can see the replacement video on my YouTube channel here:My RSX Sunroof is Rusted – How To Remove the Sunroof Glass on my Acura RSX Type S
