In my last post called “Removing old interior and Installing Dynomat – DC5 Integra Type R Interior Conversion Part 1″, I talked about my journey for removing the RSX Type S interior. I go through removal of the seats and carpet. Then I talk about cleaning, and finish off with installation of sound deadener.
Today, we’re ready to install the Type R interior, but first let me tell you what I got.
Type R interior parts
My vision for the Type R interior changed a lot while I was finding parts online. I initially found a Recaro seat person which had SR4, but not in the traditional DC5 colors (red, blue, black). Finding near mint condition seats was challenging as most of the DC5 ones were damaged on the bottom. I got Recaro WildCat Blue SR4 seats which have a two toned look. The interior is black and blue checkered pattern and black along the outside.
The seat really informed my direction. After this, I got blue Type R door panels from Japan.
I was able to find the Type R black suede seats from an import shop. It was in fairly good condition, just needs cleaning. And as you can guess, I would need the Type R blue carpet that’s in RHD (right hand drive). The carpet could have been in better condition, but the best I could find.
Good news is the faded parts of the carpet will be covered up by the Recaro seat itself. The only thing I needed to do before putting them in was to clean them. We cleaned everything with a wet vac and carpet cleaner.
Installation was easy, just took time and patience to line everything up and make sure I moved the right carpet pieces to the right area since I was making adjustments for Left Hand Drive (LHD).
