I have made the decision to refresh the entire rear suspension components of the RSX / DC5. The car is better since changing the front suspension parts: Ktuned Front Lower Control Arms, Buddy Club P1 Ball Joint, including a Hardrace front sway bar end link. It’s probably smoother since there’s no more metal-to-metal contact with the refreshed hardened rubber bushings.
Rear Suspension Parts
So for this upgrade, I’m going with the Ktuned Rear Lower Control Arm and KTuned Rear Camber Kit. I found that KTuned has some pretty good parts that is still good for street. Although they offer spherical bushings for various parts they sell, the hardened bushings they have gives more performance but still stays close to OEM.
I am also changing out all the old hardware with new ones, and also the old rear sway bar bushing with a new OEM set. You can see the part number 52306-S6M-A01 .
It was however hard to find an OEM sway bar end link for the 02-04 rsx type s. It seems like Honda no longer carries these parts and is beginning to discontinue more things going forward. I managed to get some Moog Sway bar end links which looks more beefy than the stock ones.
Installing the KTuned Lower Control Arms & Rear Camber Kit
Disconnecting the rear camber kit was very easy. It involve two bolts in the back and one bolt that connects to the top busing on the rear knuckle.
Removing the stock Lower Control Arms was a bit more challenging. You have to loosen the sway bar itself by disconnecting the end links to reduce the tension. This will allow you to easily remove the 3 bolts connecting the lower control arm to the rear trailing arm. From there, you can remove the one bolt connecting the arm to the chassis.
From here, it’s all about installing the parts back. The new Ktuned suspension parts look amazing. Take a look at these photos to see the quality of the rear lower control arm and the rear camber kit.
One last bit on the installation, I highly recommend torquing all suspension bolts to spec and not more than that. Otherwise you risk it being squeaky. I also made sure I tightened some of the bolts with load, meaning where the wheels were touching the ground just so it was not putting stress on bushings.
You can see my YouTube channel for the installation where I describe it more in detail:
