This 20 year old RSX gets a Brake System refresh

So this 20 year old RSX gets a Brake System refresh. One of the things I like to do when I get a new-ish Used car is to do maintenance, which includes refreshing the brake system. I decided to get new OEM front and rear brake pads, however while removing them, I noticed the front caliper piston wasn’t engaging and was stuck. To my dismay, the piston was shop so I decided to replace them all. Especially since the rear calipers was rusted.

If you are looking to buy OEM calipers, they get rather pricey, a good alternative is to buy some remanufactured ones, and you can do that at O’reilly. They sell the OE brand too, Nissen. I’m assuming they had taken a prevous core and refreshed it. While doing this caliper job, since I was disconnecting one part of the brake lines/hose anyway, I decided to replace it since it was rubber and I didn’t trust it since it baked for 20 years in hot weather. I got StopTech Stainless Steel brakelines.

I was a bit worried about the old hoses, and the brake fluid was near black so it looked like it hadn’t been flush in years. Now with this change, I feel a little bit more confident with the car.
